We gave Haven a unique name on purpose. We wanted him to have a name that stood out from all of the John S.'s. We also love the meaning of the word haven and think that it is a masculine thing to be a shelter and safe place for others. What I'm trying to say is that a lot of thought went into his name. And I barely use it.
These are the things I call him instead of Haven:
Babycakes
Little H
Lovey
Little Love
Baby Love
Popsicle
Popsicle Stick
Munchkin
Munchkin Boy
The Babes
Pumpkin
Pumps
Pops
Popsey
The Love
Big Strong Man
And any variation of the above including, The Little Popsicle Lovey boy. It gets out of hand. You'd think I would stick to the 2-syllable word that is his name.
What do you call your babies (pets and friends and loves included!)?

what happened to pumpkin, pumps, etc on your list?
<--- thinks he's absolutely adorable and my little "haven" no matter what u call him
Tara - I had just came back and added those two to the list right before I read your comment. Funny.
I call Brooklyn Missy B and girlie, and Cooper we have always called Bubba. Not sure why. Love the nicknames and Haven is just too cute!!!!
We have a few nicknames for our kids. However I am very particular about what others call them. Joseph - he tells someone his name and immediately they change it to Joe. Nope, won't work for this Mama, I named him Joseph. Nehemiah was a mouthful for Joseph at the age of 2. So he called him Miah. It was cute. Until my dad called him that. No. His name is Nehemiah. You can say it. Joseph doesn't call him Miah anymore either. Hannah, because her name ryhmes with so much gets a lot of nicknames. It makes me crazy but I knew that it would happen. At least her name isn't being shortened. My favorite for her is the one Joseph made up. He calls her Hannah Bannanagail... her name is Hannah Abigail.
And that was just short of a novel, sorry. :)
I can say that I have a TON of nicknames that my dad STILL Uses. I'll refrain from writing that LOOOONNNG list here. But I will say our girls get the nickname lovin' too. But there are a couple that are very specific.
Care-bear (this was before those icky dolls came back)
Selah-Bug
Raegan-Roo
I've tried to switch it up before...like call Charis "Care-Bug". They both said NO WAY...BUG is Selah's. :D
Um, I call Figgy Pudding...Mr. The Baby The Figs. and Figgy Figgy furpants I call Fiona...kitten Face and miss the puss. Mike calls me several names on a daily basis one being...sweetle the baby the badoo the fuss. We like long nicknames and the word "the".
the havesters
We LOVE nicknames at our house. Sometimes when I do use their real name the way it is supposed to be they just give me this look like "That's it? That is all the fun you can muster up right now?" So here goes....
Cooper's nicknames:
Coop, Coopster, Super Cooper, Super Duper Cooper, Sweet boy, Peanut, Cooper the Pooper, Peanut boy, Stinky boy, Mr. Cooper...
Camden's nicknames:
Cam, Silly Willy Nilly, Camden wamden, Monkey, Monkey boy, Sweet boy, Mr. Camden, little lover...
Caiyah's nicknames:
Pumpkin, Princess, little lady, Miss Caiyah, sweet baby girl, (also used for the boys, but had to drop the word baby after they became "BIG BOYS"!) Munchkin, Sweetie Pie, Pumpkin pie, Pumpkin Poo, Pumpkin muffin, Pumkin face, anything that can go with pumpkin usually works!
I'm not very good with nicknames. I wish I had a knack for it, cuz people who are good with nicknames always give me a smile. When mine were babies I did call them cute little names of loveliness, but nothing stuck... except for Jim's name for Caleigh shelaleigh--and I think we found out that that was a paddle an Irishman used on his disobedient wife! HAHAHA
Great question to ask of others!
Gabe and I seem to be such straight-laced serious people, and have never nicknamed one another. Then along comes this very funny creature whom we gave a very serious name to (Wesley Jeremiah). From the very beginning we came up with silly words to call him. Here are some that have lingered...
Be-Do
Snicker-Doodle
Budabooski
The Dude
Bugaboo
